Although this article focuses on Americans and how they maintain their bedrooms, the fact stands for all nationalities and all cultures to walk this land. Bedroom, or the bedchamber, is sacred and only those who are intricately familiar with the family are allowed to enter it. Bedrooms are immensely private, for it houses the family members when they are at their most vulnerable i.e. asleep! In the medieval and early modern eras, bedrooms were strictly forbidden for guests.
Even now, in some manors and mansions for the impossibly rich and royalty, bedrooms are separated from the entertaining rooms and guests aren’t allowed inside. Of course, in the present generation, people are more accustomed to small flats, where there aren’t many rooms to impose that law on the guests.
What is important and fascinating is how the bedroom can be symbolic of how a person is.
If a bedroom is Spartan, that is without much furniture and completely sparse, it could signify that the person inhabiting it is also one of the simple tastes and not at all interested in sophistry. When the bedroom is filled with books, well, the answer is simple.
If the bedroom is dirty, ruffled with clothes thrown around at tandem, then it signifies that the owners are pretty rough with their livelihood. But no matter what inference can be drawn from one’s bedroom, it must be kept in mind that the room is sacred and private. And if the owner shows it to you, it must mean that they consider you to be family. Don’t dally around with that sort of trust.
Here are 13 photos of bedrooms that show the private lives of American people:
1. Comfort, and Love
In the picture, you can see the owner hugging his pet as the sunlight slowly and gently peers through the windows. With the presence of toys on the bed, it must be said that room isn’t just a place to sleep. It is to fester bonds of love. Also, the clutter in the room doesn’t make it congested, but rather gives it a homely feel.
A bedroom becomes more than a bedroom when you share the space with the person you love. And nothing is better than waking up to your partner sleeping beside you. What completes this picture is their pet roaming around freely!
3. Art or Reality?
The room, the woman, the setting all of them look very artsy. And it looks straight out of a painting! But it could also suggest a nomadic livelihood, a Bohemian lifestyle, where life is all about living!
4. Trailer Santa
This looks like Christmas came early for the cat, as Santa was petting it. Although it might break a lot of hearts and dreams regarding Santa’s residence at a trailer home, rather than the North Pole, it might make him more human. And therefore, much more relatable to humanity! For, it would show that even Santa needs something to comfort him.
A typical American bedroom will, of course, have a pet in it. And at times, the pet would be hierarchically above the master as is shown here.
6. Making Memories
You make memories in your bed and you make memories on your night table. You make memories as you wake up in the morning clutching your bear. And someday, you might outgrow them, and move on with your briefcases and insomnia. But right now, this teenager wants to be surrounded by her toys.
7. The Wonder Years
A lot of time has passed and the saddening enclosure of death will always be around the corner. We wish we could give you your energy back woman, but old age is as real as life and death!
A bachelor pad would be a place for parties and frolic and fun without any of the added responsibilities and it shows. No care about the world and what goes in it as you live only once.
9. Festivities Around You
Does it really matter if Christmas is long gone? Yes, you did participate in it. But fine, you forgot to take it down. So? Why should it be a bother? It is your house, your room, your tree, and your bed. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!
Even better than waking up to your lover beside you is waking up to your lover petting your pet. It will bring forth a smile that will last the entire day!
While most of us wouldn’t put much stock into religion, this old man wants to be close to Him, and there is nothing purer than wanting to be with creation and living beside it.
12. Intellectual Life
To all the geeks and nerds, this is their lifestyle. No bed! Just books, laptops and other funky material that they need to balance out their genius. While your room might look like a minefield now, who will complain when you crack the billion dollar list?
13. For Kids
What does a kid require? Sleep, visual scenes, and a lack of rules. This room has it all!
