Reality shows, as the name goes, are supposed to be real. But we can’t really trust the TV anymore. What happens behind the scenes is completely different than what is finally presented to us. It is all a trick to amp up the ratings of the reality show so that we stay loyal to it. The thing is, they are always trying to deceive us.
Here are 7 reality show secrets the producers won’t reveal you.
1. Man Vs Wild
This must have been a favourite for every child and adult. It shows Bear Grylls, a survivor who tries to survive in the harshest conditions while eating insects and other gross items so that he doesn’t die of starvation. Well, that is what they show. Behind the scenes, the director has a lot of food packed which they eat off-screen. So the conditions are not really that harsh after all.
2. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire
The auditions are rigged in this famous show. The contestants are already selected from the beginning and they get easy access and the chance to be a millionaire. On the other end, there are many aspiring contestants who may try 30 or 40 times to get a chance but fail each time.
3. The Voice
This was a show that everyone loved to watch or listen too until a Reddit user leaked out their secret. The Reddit user mentioned how he was eliminated because they had chosen a song for him which was not within his zone. So, it was an unfair way to eliminate people so as to keep the rating of The Voice skyrocketing.
4. The Bachelor
Firstly, it isn’t as dramatic as it seems. It is shot in a certain way as if the entire reality show is actually happening with an over-the-top drama. Plus, they have an audition where they ask models and bloggers to give them higher ratings and keep them in the market.
5. Survivor
This show and its creators are masters of illusion and they cast their spell on the contestants as well. While this show is an adrenaline-pumping reality show, the real twist comes when the voting of the contestants begins. That’s the time when the producers psychologically manipulate the voters with different suggestions and in such a way that they mess up the voting process and keep the rating of the show flying high.
6. Keeping Up With The Kardashians
An extremely popular show, no doubt, the main selling point of Keeping Up With The Kardashians is the fights that occur among the sisters. They try to give all of it a touch of reality but actually, it is all scripted. The scripts are made so real and dramatic that the viewers can’t really differentiate between what is real and what is not.
7. Hell’s Kitchen
A kitchen and an angry chef – it can be a perfect tagline for a reality show. And when that chef is Gordon Ramsay, you can bet people will watch the show. But among all the criticism and screaming of Ramsay, it is said that the producers also end up switching ingredients when two teams are competing so as to give one a higher shot at victory.
