Society has somehow decided on so many norms and regulations on what is and can be considered beautiful and exhibiting anything different is a subject of societal taboo. But here are some bold individuals who have what it takes to challenge these unfair and unethical norms of the society and challenge the falsehood of conventional beauty.

She has been the subject of judgment and ill-treatment from a very young age as she had moles everywhere on her skin. Even school, which is a sanctuary for most of us, was unpleasant for her due to the malicious comments she used to get. She gave an audition for Miss Universe Malaysia to challenge and show everyone that labels are baseless and she is gorgeous.
2. TK Quann
With her gorgeous hair, she is a staunch challenger to archetypal beauty norms. Her hair is beautiful with natural Afro curls which are super thick and luscious.
3. Anna O’Brien
Having any additional weight than what is perceived to be “healthy”, makes one the subject of endless judgement and “advice” regarding health, choice of clothes, and body. But this woman has proven otherwise because she does not let negativity affect her and life choices. She is modelling on the Instagram model and is inspiring many others.
4. Bashir Aziz
His one of a kind appearance is because of a genetic skin condition called Vitiligo. This affects melanin production in the skin which can lead to parts of the body to not have melanin at all. He faced a lot of negativity for a large portion of his life, but good people changed his life for better when he was suggested to enter modelling by them. It presented him with the perfect opportunity to go out there and show everyone that he is not undesirable.
5. Kokie Childers
Changing hard set ideas in people’s heads is no easy job, especially those who think beautiful means having perfect skin and a white face. She is someone who has beautiful curly hair and freckles which makes her beautifully distinct. Her looks are the subject of adoration for many but do not stop awful people from throwing their negativity at her on her Instagram profile. But she does not pay any heed to the naysayers!
6. Sophie Morgan
One incident can turn your life upside down and Sophie is one of the survivors of such an incident. People’s pity and reservation on her living a fulfilling life led her to have her steely determination in life. Sophie is now a presenter for BBC and a businesswoman.
7. Therese Hansson
It is a hard truth for many people and it affects many people all around the world when they lose their hair. A lot of women feel that only long hair is beautiful, but having been diagnosed with Alopecia, Therese initially felt the need to hide her baldness. But she put on her game face and challenged this notion, thereby inspiring others like her to come forward too.
8. Nyma Tang
She has challenged the notion of light skin being the only beautiful skin and boy, has she done herself proud! Having faced issues finding appropriate makeup suitable for her skin tone, she started a YouTube channel advising viewers on best makeup practices for their skin tone. She strives to enable people of colour to feel comfortable in their skin.
